There was a good crowd present when someone was baptised recently in Springfield Gospel Hall!
Due to the wonders of technology, the congregation were able to watch on a large screen what was happening in the tank when the biblical practice of believers baptism by immersion was carried out.
The man who was being baptised, was able to declare publicly that he is a believer in The Lord Jesus Christ when he was asked by Mike Cordiner the man who carried out the baptism (aided by Graeme Parsons).
Believers baptism by immersion is a practice which is taught in the bible, and is carried out by Christians all over the world, as well as many locally in Arbroath.
When Jesus said: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" it was his commandment which was demonstrated by Philip "When both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptised him", taught by Paul when he said "When we were baptized, we were buried with Christ and shared his death. So, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the wonderful power of the Father, we also can live a new life". The apostle Peter further explained about it, writing "and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ".
When the man emerged from the water he was greeted by a spontaneous round of applause from the gathered crowd, it was a truly joyful occasion!
